How Does the Disappearing Equipment Mechanic Work?
At the start of each round, players have a set of equipment cards representing weapons, armor, and other gear. During the preparation phase, players take turns either setting aside one of their equipment pieces (removing it from the adventurer's loadout) or adding a monster card to the dungeon deck. As more equipment is discarded, the hero becomes weaker, making each subsequent delve riskier. This forced trade-off drives the core tension: you can either weaken your own character to avoid adding monsters, or strengthen the dungeon to force an opponent's failure.
Why Take the Risk?
The game rewards boldness. If a player successfully clears the dungeon with the remaining equipment, they earn a victory token. But failure means elimination from that round. Victory goes to the first player to conquer the dungeon twice, or to the last player left standing if all others have been eliminated. This system ensures every decision matters, and even a string of bad luck can be overcome by clever bluffing and timing.
