Surpass Hobby V2 ESC Programming Card – Compatible with Surpass Hobby & Rocket-RC Brushless ESCs (50A-110A)
This Surpass Hobby V2 programming card is a handheld programmer for adjusting settings on Surpass Hobby and Rocket-RC brushless electronic speed controllers (ESCs) rated from 50A to 110A. It connects via a plug-and-play cable and uses an LED display with four buttons to modify parameters like brake force, reverse force, low voltage cutoff, and more. It is not compatible with other brand ESCs.
Which ESCs work with this programming card?
This programmer works exclusively with ESCs manufactured by Surpass Hobby and Rocket-RC that share the same manufacturer as the card. It does not work with other brands. However, if you have an older model Surpass Hobby or Rocket-RC ESC, some programming items may not match. The card is verified for use with brushless ESCs rated 25A, 45A, 60A, 80A, and 120A (though the card is advertised for 50A to 110A, the firmware covers those common ratings).
How do you use the programming card?
Using the card is straightforward: plug it into the ESC’s programming port (usually a three-wire cable), power on the ESC, and use the four buttons on the card’s face – labeled ITEM, VALUE, OK, and RESET (from right to left). Press ITEM to scroll through 15 programming items (displayed 1–15), VALUE to change the setting for that item, OK to confirm, and RESET to restore defaults. The LED shows the current item number and its value.
What parameters can you adjust?
The card gives you control over 15 parameters, including:
- Low voltage cut-off – protects the battery from over-discharge.
- Start modes – choose from different throttle response curves.
- Maximum brake force – for 25A/45A/60A ESCs, options are 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% (default 50%); for 80A/120A ESCs, options are 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% (default 25%).
- Maximum reverse force – 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% (default 25%).
- Neutral range – adjusts the dead band around neutral.
- Running mode – forward only, forward/brake, or forward/brake/reverse.
- Drag brake force – applies braking when throttle is released.
- Motor overheat protection – cuts power if the motor gets too hot.
- ESC overheat protection – cuts power if the ESC gets too hot.
These settings let you fine-tune your car’s behavior for different tracks or driving styles.

FAQ
Will this work with a Hobbywing or Castle ESC?
No. The card is only compatible with Surpass Hobby and Rocket-RC ESCs from the same manufacturer. It will not work with other brands.
Are old Surpass Hobby ESCs fully supported?
Some older models may have partial compatibility – a few programming items might not match or respond. The card works best with current production ESCs.
What are the default brake force values?
For 25A/45A/60A ESCs the default is 50%; for 80A/120A ESCs the default is 25%. Reverse force defaults to 25% for all.
Does the card require a battery or external power?
No. It draws power from the ESC when connected.
